The school is one of the 20 national pilot schools for the reform of excellent primary school teacher training approved by the Ministry of Education. Primary education is a first-class and distinctive major in Chongqing. Science education is the first undergraduate major in science education in China, as well as a school-level distinctive major and a first-class major in the city. Calligraphy is the only calligraphy undergraduate major in Chongqing Normal University. In recent years, it has carried out more than 80 National Training Program and local teacher training programs (including 13 demonstration training projects of the Ministry of Education, more than 40 national training projects at the provincial and municipal levels, and more than 30 within-municipality and external training projects), training over 5,800 primary school teachers and educational researchers in subjects such as Chinese, mathematics, and science. The quality of training ranks among the top in the country. The school has been repeatedly recognized as an Chongqing Advanced Collective in Teacher Education and an Advanced Collective of National Training Program.

With a century of history and continuous progress, the school will be based in Chongqing, facing the western region, and adhere to the coordinated development of primary education, science education, and calligraphy.
